| Abstract: | The catalytic
application of AgOTf for the regioselective cycloisomerization of
2-(alkynyl)benzyl alcohols leading to functionalized phthalans has been
studied. This method offers good yield of products at short reaction time. Radical scavenging activity of all compounds has been
carried out by DPPH radical scavenging method. Six compounds have been found to
display comparable activity against the standard. Antibacterial activitiy of
six compounds against Staphylococcus
aureus and Escherichia coli has
been evaluated using filter paper disc method. Three compounds have been found
to exhibit antifungal activity against Candida
albicans. Preliminary cytotoxic evaluation of three compounds against
hepatitis-2 liver cancer cell lines has been performed by MTT assay method. The
tested compounds exhibit satisfactory results of inhibition of cancer growth at
different concentration. |
