| Abstract: | The models developed for the study on mechanics of 1×1 rib loop formation
process under synchronized (SYN) and
2 needle delayed (2 ND) timings have already been validated in terms of loop
length and cam force (yarn tension profile) inside knitting zone – the two main
output parameters of the model. As a dial and cylinder type knitting machine
can be adjusted to different delayed timings, such as 1 ND, 2 ND, 3 ND, 4 ND, 5
ND, etc., an attempt has been made to carry out experimental studies under 1
ND, 3 ND and 5 ND timings. Such studies have mainly been carried out to justify
the need of writing computer programmes for 1×1 rib loop formation process
under different delayed timings of knitting. The values as well as the trend of
the loop length and cam force obtained in this study have been compared with
the trend observed under SYN and 2 ND timings. It has been found that excepting
a few cases, loop length and cam force values follow a common trend. In
general, with the increase in amount of delay the loop length decreases,
whereas the cam force increases. |
