| Abstract: | A simple and
efficient method for the synthesis of 6-aryl-9-(4-hydroxy-3-ethoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a][1,8]
naphthyridÂines 4 by the
oxidation of the corresponding ethylvanillin
3-aryl-1,8-naphthyridin-2-ylhydrazones 3 using silicagel supported ferric chloride (SiO2-FeCl3) in solvent-free conditions under microwave
irradiation has been described. The products are obtained in good yields and in
a state of high purity. The structural assignment of compounds 3 and
4 were based on their elemental analyses and spectral data. |
