Abstract: 3-Aryl-6-(6-substituted-4-methylcinnolin-3-yl)-<i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">7H</i>-1,2,4-tria¬≠zolo[3,4-<i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">b</i>][1,3,4]thiadiazines <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">3a-l</b> have been synthesized directly in one step by iodine mediated condensation of 3-acetyl-6-substituted-4-methylcinnoline <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">1</b> with 3-aryl-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">2</b>. These compounds have been found to possess very good antibacterial activity at 10 ppm.
