Abstract: This study determines predominant mechanism of carcinogenesis in varying grades of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) by Immunohistochemical evaluation of Bcl-2 gene and Ki-67 antigen. Anti-apoptosis was found dominant in well differentiated lesions than in moderately and poorly differentiated lesions; while cell proliferation dominated in poorly differentiated lesions than in moderately and well differentiated lesions.
