Abstract: A new clerodane-type -hydroxybutenolide diterpene has been isolated from the bark of Polyalthia longifolia var. angustifolia. Its structure has been established as (Z)-4-hydroxy-3-(26-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-5,8a-dimethyloctahydro-1H-spiro[naphthalene-2,2″′-oxiran]-1-yl) ethylidene)dihydrofuran-2(3H)-one, on the basis of chemical and spectral (UV, IR,1H,13C, HETROCOSY and mass) data analysis.
