| Abstract: | Using various web analyzer tools like Google Trends, Yahoo Site Explorer, Alexa and Smart viper, the present study assesses the usability and accessibility of three popular Indian commercial websites, rediff.com, india times.com and sify.com. It was found that rediff.com is more used among the three. It was also found that for the three websites, queries related to air fare, family guy and live cricket match score were common. Users also visited these websites to know about stock market news, business news, cricket news, etc. The study finds that there are differences between website designers’ assumption about popularity of a page and audiences’ actual interests. The study concludes that it may be worthwhile to verify audience interest while creating web pages, which ultimately helps to gain business through advertisement. |
