Abstract: Alumina-supported iodobenzene diacetate [PhI(OAc)2-Al2O3] is a highly efficient reagent for the oxidative cyclization of N-arylidene-N′–[3-(4-fluorophenyl)-[1,8]naphthyridin-2-yl]-hy­dra­zines 7 to 1-aryl-4-[4-fluoro phenyl]-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a][1,8]naphthyridines 8 in solvent-free conditions under microwave irradiation. The products are obtained in good yields and excellent purities. The structural assignments of compounds 3-8 were based on their spectral (IR, 1H NMR and MS) and analytical data.
