| Abstract: | This study presents performance of a 5 kW diesel generator (DG) set using 100% oil of karanj (Pongamia pinnata). Testswere carried out by preheating karanj oil at 50-200°C to determine on-load performance of DG set. Significant improvement wasobserved in energy conversion (50-80%) under different load conditions, leading to lower pollution level of exhaust. This systemcan create local employment, save foreign exchange and generate electricity at a lower price. It can promote local electricitygeneration without costly transmission-distribution systems. |
