| Abstract: | The thermoelastic
properties of liquid toluene at high pressures and temperatures have been
analysed. The pressure dependence of thermal expansivity and isothermal
compressibility have been determined for liquid toluene under pressures up to
4000 bar along different isotherms at selected temperatures in the range 202.0-431.9
K. The pseudospinodal model has been formulated along different isotherms for
evaluating thermal expansivity and isothermal compressibility both with the
change in pressure. It has been found that the spinodal pressure is dependent
on the temperature. The results obtained are in good agreement with the
experimental data reported earlier. The plots between thermal expansivity and
pressure along different isotherms intersect each other. The co-ordinates for
points of intersections of different pairs of isotherms have been obtained and
studied. |
