Abstract: | This paper presents a model for application of joint repair in large production shops by dynamic collaboration of repair crews. The model evaluates optimum availability, optimum number of repair crews, limiting availability, and limit on the number of repair crews to be employed in a production system with large number of identical and independent machines having no specified RLD (reliability logic diagram). Significant improvement in availability, and increase in net-benefit can be achieved with no additional investment by employing joint repair. An illustrative example from a spinning mill is presented for clarification of the model. |
