Abstract: Urinary tract stones are major cause of renal morbidity. Citrate ions present in urine forms soluble complex with stone forming salts, i.e. Ca+, Mg+. These ions are considered inhibitory factor for stone. Their lower concentration has been documented in stone former. SBM has been in use since long in the management of urinary tract stones. In present study the effect of SBM on citrate excretion has been evaluated, and it was found that SBM has a significant citrituric effect compared with standard citrituric substance–potassium citrate.
