Abstract: The synthesis route at low temperature for Ce-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG:Ce) phosphor is described. Its photoluminescence efficiency and quenching temperature dependence characteristics are found to be comparable to the imported one. YAG:Ce shows least thermal quenching among the several blue LED phosphors [CaS:Eu2+, (Y,Gd)3Al5O12:Ce3+, SrS:Eu2+ and SrGa2S4:Eu2+].
