Abstract: Six crude extracts from the roots of <i style="">Rumex nepalensis</i> Spreng.<i style=""> </i>were evaluated for <i style="">in vitro</i> antimicrobial activity against two Gram positive (<i style="">Staphylococcus aureus</i>, <i style="">Streptococcus mutans</i>) and two Gram negative bacteria (<i style="">Escherichia coli</i>, <i style="">Pseudomonas aeruginosa</i>) and one fungus, <i style="">Candida albicans</i>. The agar plate well diffusion method was used for different samples. Benzene and ethyl acetate extracts demonstrated significant inhibitory effect against majority of microorganisms under test.
