Abstract: Studies were carried out using <i>Pseudomonas </i>sp. NCIM 2875 strain to achieve optimum growth and hydantoinase activity. A medium containing glucose-NartO, with supplement of salts, yeast extract (0.1%) and peptone was developed. Maximum cell (wet wt) yield and hydantoinase activity was 12.7 gl<sup>-1</sup> and 4.63 units (<img src='/image/spc_char/micro.gif' border=0>M of N-carbamoylphenylglycine formed/minlg wet wt cells), respectively. The activity was higher than that obtained after cultivation of strain on nutrient broth medium.
