Abstract: A simple method for the estimation of insulin concentration based on changes in membrane permeability is described. The method exploits the phenomenon of formation of hydrophilic pathways by insulin in the liquid membrane bilayers generated by the mixture of lecithin and cholesterol. It works satisfactorily for the estimation of insulin in blood serum.
