Abstract: Thiazolidin-4-ones <b style="">3a-l, 4a-l</b> have been synthesized by the cyclocondensation of thioglycolic acid/thiolactic acid, 2-amino benzothiazoles <b style="">2a-d</b> and 2-chloro-3-formyl quinolines <b style="">1a-c</b> in the presence of ZnCl<sub>2</sub>. The structure of the compounds <b style="">3a-l, 4a-l </b>have been confirmed from <sup>1</sup>H NMR, <sup>13</sup>C NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. All the compounds have been screened for their antimicrobial and antifungal activity against several microbes.
