|Abstract:||Substitution of [Ru<sup>III</sup>(edta)SR]<sup>2-</sup> with Nu ( (RSH = cysteine, glutathione; Nu = AMP (adenosine-5′-monophosphate), GMP (guanosine-5′-monophosphate), IMP (inosine-5′-monophosphate), CMP (cytidineine-5′-monophosphate) and UMP (uracil-5′-monophosphate) has been examined spectrophotometrically and kinetically at physiological <i style="">p</i>H 7.2. In each case the rate constant for reaction to form [Ru<sup>III</sup>(edta)Nu]<sup>- </sup>is independent of the nucleotide concentration. A reaction mechanism, in agreement with the spectral and kinetic data, is discussed.|
