Abstract: This paper presents design of an ultra high speed 2x2 polymer electro-optic waveguide switch. Proposed switch has very short switching time (0.47 ps) and trapezoidal grating has following optimized parameters: coupling length, 81 mm; and switchingvoltage at operating wavelength of 1550 nm, 8.5 V. Proposed switch with smaller size, lower requirement of drive voltage and shorter switching time than existing switches is an important element in protection application in intelligent optical network.
