| Abstract: | An attempt has been made to use hydrogen
peroxide in a combined scouring and bleaching process on mill grey mercerized
cotton fabric at a lower temperature in the presence of a bleach activator
(potassium persulphate) and an ecofriendly commercial stabilizer. The results
on assessment of various quality parameters such as whiteness and tensile
strength of the bleached cotton fabric indicate no adverse effect of new
process as compared to conventional combined scouring and bleaching process
carried out at higher temperature. The new process is found to be successful in
terms of savings in energy and time. |
