| Abstract: | A simple and convenient protocol for the synthesis of benzothiazole
appended -lactams is described. This methodology involves [2+2]-cyloaddition
of benzothiazole substituted imines with chloroacetyl chloride (CAC) in the
presence of triethylamine to yield the corresponding product in moderate to
good yields. The reaction is compatible with a wide variety of functional
groups. |
