Abstract: Synthesis of three parabens is achieved using montmorillonite K10 clay as heterogeneous catalyst. Methyl, ethyl, and propyl parabens were synthesized by esterification of 4-hydroxy benzoic acid with the corresponding alcohol. The catalyst can easily be separated from the reaction mixture and reused successfully with-out affecting the catalytic activity.
