Abstract: | Selenium dioxide oxidation of 1,2-diarylethanones to corresponding diones by conventional method takes upto 8 hr.The same oxidation under microwave radiations using dimethylsulf oxide as solvent reduces the reaction time considerably (30 to 90 s ec ). The method reported is efcient and time saving. |
