Abstract: In the present study, a new series of 1′-[2-phenyl-4-oxo(3<i style="">H</i>)-quinazolin-3-(benzoyl)/2′′-methylmethine carbonyl)]-3′,5′-dime­thyl pyrazoles <b style="">6a,b</b>, 1′-[2-phenyl-4-oxo(3<i style="">H</i>)-quinazolin-3-(benzo­yl)/2′′-methyl­methine carbonyl)]-3′-methyl-5′(4<i style="">H</i>)-pyrazolones <b style="">7a,b</b>, and [5-(3′-phenyl/methylmethine-2′-phenyl-4′-oxo(3′<i style="">H</i>)-quinazolin)-2-(4′′-chlorophenyl/3′′,5′′-dinitrophenyl/2′′-nitrophen­yl)]-1,3,4-oxadiazoles <b style="">8a,b-10a,b</b> have been synthesized from hydrazides <b style="">5a</b> and <b style="">5b</b>. These compounds have been characterized by IR, <sup>1</sup>H NMR, mass spectra and elemental analysis. These have been screened for their <i style="">in vitro</i> antibacterial activity against the gram negative strains <i style="">E. coli</i> and <i style="">S. aureus</i> by the disc diffusion technique. The insecticidal activity has been tested against the species <i style="">Callosobruchus chinensis</i> with legume grains as the host
