Abstract: <i>Jhum</i> cultivation is commonly practiced by indigenous tribes in Northeast India. Many of the farmers in Nagaland have developed and practicing Alder (<i>Alnus</i> <i>nepalensis</i>) based farming system. The paper discusses in detail steps involved in increasing the yield of <i style="">jhum</i> crops.
