Abstract: Novel 3-acyl-4-bromomethyl- and 3-acyl-4,5-bischloromethyl-2-isoxazolines have been prepared from alkenes like allyl bromide and 1,4-dichloro-<i style="">trans</i>-2-butene respectively and methyl ketones using Fe(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>3</sub>.9H<sub>2</sub>O. Further, 7-alkyl-3,3<i style="">a</i>,4,5-tetra­hydro­isoxazolo[3,4-<i style="">d</i>]pyridazines and 3-chloromethyl-7-methyl-<i style="">3a</i>,4-dihydro-3<i style="">H</i>-isoxazolo[3,4-<i style="">d</i>][1,2]oxazine have been prepared from all these 2-isoxazolines and 3-acetyl-4,5-bischloromethyl-2-isoxazoline respectively by their reaction with hydrazines and hydroxylamine respectively. These compounds have been obtained either as racemic-mixture or mixture of four dia­stereo­isomers (two pairs of racemates) and are characterised by their elemental analysis and spectral studies. These compounds have been put to screening for antifungal and anti bacterial activity and the results have been found highly promising.
