Abstract: <smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="metricconverter"> Tryrosinase inhibition activity-guided fractionation of the ethyl acetate extract of the roots of <i style="">Artocarpus Heterophyllus </i>Lam., yield a stilbene derivative, (<i style="">E</i>)-4-[(1<i style="">E</i>)-3-methyl-1-buten-1-yl]-3,5,2¢,4¢-tetrahydroxystilbene (artoindonesianin F). The structure has been established based on physical and spectral data (UV, IR, <sup>1</sup>H, <sup>13</sup>C NMR and Mass). The compound has shown a potent mushroom tyrosinase inhibition activity when compared with standard commercial compound, kojic acid.</smarttagtype>
