Abstract: A study was carried out to find out the potato marketing and marketing efficiency in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Ghazipur is one of the major potato producing districts in this state and having maximum arrival and disposal of potato in the market. In general, potato is produced from November-March but it is consumed throughout the year. Its different varieties are sown from September-November and the produce is available from November to March for consumption purposes. The producers sale their produce either in the field to the consumer, village merchant, retailer or whole salers. Different channels used in marketing of potato in eastern U.P. are : (1) Producer – Consumers; (2) Producer – Retailer – Consumers; (3) Producer – Wholesalers – Retailer – Consumers; (4) Producer – Village Merchant – Whole saler – Retailer – Consumers. In case of marketing of potato, producer received low share of consumer price in channel III than channel II.
