MSVQ: A data compression technique for multimedia applications

Title: MSVQ: A data compression technique for multimedia applications

Authors: Singhai, Jyoti; Singhai, Rakesh

Abstract: Data compression is one of the enabling technologies for the application of communication technology with ever growing Internet, explosive development of mobile communication and the ever-increasing impact of video communication to store the data in a compact way for minimum cost of storage and transmission. There are various compression techniques available which are capable of application specific large compression ratios. This paper presents the Multi Stage Vector Quantization (MSVQ) based on LBG algorithm and Partial Distance Search (PDS) method, which is most suitable for faster encoding required in multimedia applications.
Authors: Mouli, K V V Chandra; Subbaiah, K Venkata; Acharyulu, S G

Abstract: Production planning is meant to arrive at the framework of manufacturing operations during the period planned. This paper addresses the solution for finding an optimal production planning to minimize the total cost under the resource constraints taking overtime and subcontracting costs. A mathematical model is formulated and Genetic algorithms are implemented in constrained optimization to arrive an optimal solution.

Abstract: Activated carbon (AC) has been prepared from raw coconut pith and coconut pith impregnated with H3PO4 and NaOH solutions separately. AC was characterized with SEM, particle size analyzer and proximate analyzer. Adsorption studies were carried out using UV and atomic absorption spectrophotometer to find its effectiveness. AC obtained from coconut pith treated with phosphoric acid was found comparable to the commercial grade samples.

Title: Estimation of Rabeprazole Sodium in tablet dosage form by rapid isocratic reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography using volatile buffer additives

Authors: Kulkarni, V L; Mahulikar, P P

Abstract: A simple, rapid and reproducible reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic (RP-HPLC) assay method for determination of Rabeprazole Sodium (RS) in solid dosage form (20 mg) has been developed. Chromatographic separation was performed on YMC C18, ODS-AM stainless steel column (250 mm x 4.6 mm ID; particle size 5m). Mobile phase comprised of 50 m M ammonium acetate in water (pH 8) with ammonia and methanol. Detection was performed using PDA detector. Recovery of RS in tablets was 95.5-96.8%. Chromatographic response of the analyte (100-500 mg/ml) was linear with correlation coefficient more than 0.99. Runtime of the method is very short and mobile phase additives used are volatile that are also suitable for mass spectrometry analysis. Therefore, this method could be used for routine quality control analysis and in bio-analytical work.
