It describes various international and regional attempts to protect traditional culture and folklore. Under national perspectives, and trends and strategies, paper reports the Indian position in respect of the protection of traditional knowledge and folklore. The patenting activity was found to be maximum in Japan followed by China, United States, Europe and Australia.
