Title: Voltage-mode universal biquad with five inputs and two outputs using two current feedback amplifiers

Authors: Horng, Jiun-Wei

Abstract: A voltage-mode universal biquadratic filter
using two current-feedback amplifiers (CFAs), two capacitors and four
resistors, is presented. The new circuit has five inputs and two outputs and
can realize all the standard filter functions, which are, lowpass, bandpass, highpass, notch and allpass filters, without changing the circuit topology. Some of the derived filter
types enjoy the advantage of having two simultaneous output filter responses.
One of the derived filter types enjoys the advantage of realizing non-inverting
lowpass and inverting bandpass signals, simultaneously, with all the parasitic
impedances of the CFAs can be absorbed by the outside passive components.
Because the output impedance of the CFA is very low, the output terminals of the
proposed configuration can be directly connected to the next stage.

Abstract: Polyaniline
has been chemically synthesised by oxidative polymerization of 0.1 M aniline
monomer using 0.3 M dodecyl benzene sulphonic acid (DBSA) as a dopant. The
formation of polymer has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction and FTIR
measurements where as surface morphology has been observed using scanning
electron microscope. The spin coated polyaniline film has been prepared over
ITO coated glass substrate and its current voltage response has been analyzed
using Schottky emission theory. The band gap of the material has been
calculated using UV visible spectroscopy and found to be 2.7 eV. The
current-voltage response of deposited film gives the value of barrier height (Øb)
and constant factor (β) as 0.307 eV and 1.89×10-4, respectively.
These films may have potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic
sensing devices.

Design of specific gravity factor of artificial lightweight aggregate

Title: Design of specific gravity factor of artificial lightweight aggregate

Authors: Demirboğa, Ramazan; Kan, Abdulkadir

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to obtain the thermal treated
(modified) waste expanded polystyrene aggregates (MEPS) utility as a concrete
aggregate and for mix design of concrete feasibility necessary specific gravity
factor (SGF). A series of experiments are carried out to determine the SGF of
MEPS. The value so determined is not an actual specific gravity but is only a
factor. This factor may, however, be used in subsequent calculations as though
it is the apparent specific gravity, using the principles of absolute volumes,
so long as the moisture content and density of the aggregates remains
unchanged. In this study, the cement dosages for concrete mixes are 400 and 500
kg/m3. The targeted ultimate compressive strength would be 8.0 MPa.
Pre-wetted aggregate is used. The resulting concretes are seen to have
densities varying from 800 to 1000 kg/m3, with the corresponding
strengths varying from 5 to 8 MPa. The experimental results indicate that the SGF
of MEPS aggregates for 400 kg cement dosage’s concretes are 0.22 and 0.31, and
for 500 kg cement dosage’s concretes are 0.24 and 0.34, respectively, for
coarse and fine aggregates.

Study of physical and rheological properties of wax modified binders using classic and SHRP testing methods

Title: Study of physical and rheological properties of wax modified binders using classic and SHRP testing methods

Authors: Liu, Shengjie

Abstract: Considerable effect of Fischer-Tropsch (FT)
paraffin on improving the original asphalt properties along with reducing the
emissions and saving energy, encouraged using this additive as an effective
modifier. In this study, extensive laboratory investigations have been carried out
using classic and SHRP testing methods. The results of both test methods show
that adding FT paraffin into original asphalt reduce penetration, ductility at
15°C, and m-value, while enhance
penetration index, softening point and creep stiffness. Results indicate that
there is an inflection point or inflection interval in ductility at 5°C.
Rheological properties of modified specimens are investigated with DSR in
temperature sweep and creep tests. Results indicate that the aforementioned
parameters increase by increasing the FT paraffin content. Furthermore, at
higher temperatures , increasing the FT paraffin additives content can reduce
the binder viscosity and at lower temperatures less than the melting point of
FT paraffin the reverse is true.
