Title: Synthesis of some new 2-(4-alkylthiophenoxy)-4-substituted-1, 3-thiazoles as possible anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agents

Authors: T, Karabasanagouda; Adhikari, Airody Vasudeva; Dhanwad, Ramgopal; Parameshwarappa, G

Abstract: A series of new 2-{[4-(alkylthio)phenoxy]methyl}-4-substi¬tuted-1,3-thiazoles 4a-q, 6a-j have been synthesized from ethyl [4-(alkylthio)phenoxy]acetates 1a,b through multi-step reaction sequence. The structures of new compounds have been esta¬blished on the basis of their elemental analysis and IR, 1H and 13C NMR and mass spectral data. Selected title compounds have been evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity and in vitro antibacterial testing against two pathogenic strains and antifungal screening against two fungi.

Title: The synthesis of some new (1-aryl-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) diarylmethanol

Authors: Dong, Heng-Shan; Huo, Guo-Yong; Ma, Zhi-Tao

Abstract: The(1-aryl-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)diarylmethanols were synthesized by ethyl 1-aryl-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate. The yielded products are investigated with NMR, MS, IR, elemental analyses and X-ray crystallographic techniques.

Title: Two new clerodane diterpenoid glucosides and other constituents from the roots of Elsholtzia bodinieri Van′t

Authors: Hu, Haobin; Cao, Hong; Jian, Yufeng; Zheng, Xudong; Liu, Jianxin

Abstract: Two new clerodane diterpenoid glucosides, 6-hydroxy-(-)-hardwickiic acid 2′-β-D-glucopyranosylbenzyl ester 1 and 6,7-dihydroxy-(-)-hardwickiic acid 2′-β-D-glucopyranosylbenzyl ester 2, together with six known compounds, 5,7- dihydroxyflavone 3, 5,8,11,13-tetraene-18-oic acid 4, allonhimachol 5, oleanolic acid 6, daucosterol 7 and bodinioside B 8, have been isolated from the roots of Elsholtzia bodinieri Van′t. Their structures have been elucidated by extensive spectroscopic and chemical methods, in particular by using 2D-NMR methods. All compounds except 3, 6, 7 and 8 have been first isolated from Elsholtzia bodinieri Van′t.

Nardal, a new sesquiterpene aldehyde from the plant, Nardostachys jatamansi DC

Title: Nardal, a new sesquiterpene aldehyde from the plant, Nardostachys jatamansi DC

Authors: Rao, G Venkateswara; Annamalai, T; Mukhopadhyay, T

Abstract: A new bicyclic sesquiterpene aldehyde has been isolated along with nardin 2 from the hexane extract of the rhizomes of the plant, Nardostachys jatamansi DC. The structure of bicyclic sesquiterpene aldehyde has been established as E-2-methyl, 3-(5,9-dimethylbicyclo[4,3,0]-non-9(1)-en-3-yl)-2-propenal based on the spectral data of its 2,4-DNP derivative and its comparison with known compound isolated from the same plant.
